Important note: When replacing leaf springs, be aware that the removed u-bolts cannot be reused. Suspension u-bolts feature a smooth rolled thread, while the mating hi-nuts are crafted with sharp cut threads. When a u-bolt is tightened to its recommended torque level, the u-bolt threads stretch as they engage with the hi-nuts. Although this damage may not always be visible to the naked eye, it compromises the threads. Removing the hi-nuts from the u-bolt may result in cross-threading, preventing the u-bolt from being adequately re-torqued.
