It's important to note that when replacing leaf springs, the removed u-bolts cannot be reused.

Suspension u-bolts feature a smooth rolled thread, while mating hi-nuts have sharp cut threads. Tightening a u-bolt to its recommended torque level causes the threads to stretch as they mate with the hi-nuts. Although this stretching may not always be visible to the naked eye, it can damage the threads. Removing the hi-nuts from the u-bolt may result in cross-threading, preventing the u-bolt from being adequately re-torqued.
