Important note: When replacing leaf springs, please be aware that the removed u-bolts cannot be reused.
Suspension u-bolts are crafted with a smooth rolled thread, while the corresponding hi-nuts feature sharp cut threads. When a u-bolt is tightened to its recommended torque level, the u-bolt threads stretch as they engage with the hi-nuts. Although this damage may not always be visible to the naked eye, it can compromise the threads.
